ICGEB, with support from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), offers African researchers a six-month training fellowship at its laboratories in Trieste (Italy), New Delhi (India), or Cape Town (South Africa). It targets early/mid-career scientists in human or animal health fields such as virology, microbiology and related biological sciences, with research backgrounds in infectious diseases, diagnostics, or biosafety/biosecurity, who are affiliated with a research institute, university, or public health laboratory in their home country. Applications are made in two stages: an Expression of Interest (1 July – 14 August 2026) and a full application (16 – 30 September 2026). Fellows receive a monthly stipend, travel provision, medical insurance, and reimbursement of visa/permit costs.
